How to organize the photo and video of your wedding in the DR if you live abroad

Getting married in the DR while living in another country is easier than it looks when the photo and video team is based here. Here is what to sort out, and in what order.

How to organize the photo and video of your wedding in the DR if you live abroad

When do you need to book?

As soon as you have a date and a venue. The dry season, from December to April, is the most requested by people who travel in, and weekend dates fill up first.

The date is held with the deposit. Before that, the usual step is a video call to learn about your idea for the wedding and build a proposal with the coverage you need.

How is everything coordinated from another country?

Like with any other vendor, with the advantage that the team is on the island. This is how we work with most couples who live abroad:

  • First contact by WhatsApp or email with the date, the venue and the approximate number of guests.
  • A video call to learn the style you like and what you do not want to miss.
  • A written proposal with the coverage, the deliverables and the timing.
  • The day's timeline shared with the wedding planner, if you have one.
  • Meeting in person at the pre-wedding session, a few days before the wedding.

Where can the wedding take place?

Wherever you want: on the beach, at a villa, in a hotel, in a church or in the city. We travel from Santo Domingo to any point in the country.

Some hotels and properties require outside vendors to register or be authorized, and sometimes charge a fee. The couple handles that with the venue. Ask before you sign with the venue and ask the photo and video team for any documents that need to be submitted.

Is the pre-wedding session worth it?

Yes, especially if you are coming from abroad. It is the first time you meet the team in person, you get used to the camera, and on the wedding day everything flows better. The photos are also useful for the save the date or for the wedding decoration.

If you arrive only a few days before, it can be done in the Colonial Zone, on the beach or at the wedding venue itself.

What is delivered and when?

It depends on the proposal, but the usual is to receive previews for social media within a few days, then the full gallery and, if video is included, a 3 to 4 minute highlight film and the full story of the day. The exact timing should be written in the proposal.

Because delivery is digital, it does not matter which country you live in: the gallery and the videos can be downloaded from anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us.

Do we have to travel beforehand to meet the photographer?

No. Planning is done by video call and the first in-person meeting is usually the pre-wedding session, a few days before the wedding.

Do you work in English?

Yes. We serve couples and their families in Spanish and English.

Who requests the permit for the photographer to work at the hotel?

The couple. If the venue requires it, the photo and video team sends the documents the hotel or property asks for.

What are we going to shoot?

Tell us about your project and we will send you a tailored proposal.
